Kirk Lee Stewart was born on July 28, 1955, in Anthony, Kansas, to
Robert F. and Neva G. (Davis) Stewart. He was the older brother to
Kathy Lue Stewart (Latham). Kirk enjoyed growing up in Anthony, from
his grade school years until graduating from Chaparral High School in
1973.
In the late 1970s, Kirk moved to Freeport with his longtime friend, Doug
Salser. The two worked together on the Salser family farm and
eventually made the Salser homeplace west of Freeport their own. After
Doug passed away in 2012, Kirk moved back to Anthony.
Kirk was always active, participating in many sports and outdoor
activities, including camping, fishing, and hunting. He had a stellar
wrestling career at Chaparral, winning the school's first State
Championship in 1971. He was also an avid fisherman, with many large
catches that earned him true bragging rights.
Kirk passed away on December 2, 2024, at the age of 69. He was
preceded in death by his parents. Kirk will be deeply missed by his sister
Kathy, his nephew Houston, his remaining cousins, and a host of friends
