Kathleen Mabel Shaffer, age 90, passed away on Sunday, March 28, 2021 at Storey Oaks Memory Care in Oklahoma City. Born April 8, 1930 to Ralph and Maude Rump, she lived most of her life in Anthony, Kansas, where she attended Anthony High School graduating as Valedictorian of her class.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Max Shaffer, two children, Kathy Ann Ritter and John W. Drosselmeyer and brother, Richard Rump. Kathleen is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, David and Teresa Drosselmeyer of Oklahoma City, seven grandchildren – Sonya Williams-Rowe, Richard Ritter, Kasey Hunter, Juliet Brown, Jennifer Swaggerty, Michael Drosselmeyer, Dillon Drosselmeyer – and twelve great-grandchildren who will miss her dearly. They remember her as a caring grandmother that always made sure her family was taken care of, who made them canned spaghetti and sloppy corn, and shocked them with her wit and humor during board games.  She had a massive tea pot collection that entertained the kids as they explored them during dinner time noting whimsical details or trying to find the new addition to the set but was an irritant to her youngest son whom she declared would inherit the treasures and, in turn, he promised to use them as shooting targets. Besides teasing her family, Kathleen loved to read, was dedicated to her church, and enjoyed visiting family and friends. It was a blessing to have her close to us during her last years and we will always cherish our time and memories with her.

Kathleen was a lifelong member of the United Methodist Church in Anthony, Kansas and graveside services to honor her life will be officiated by Pastor Brenda Kostner-Johnson on Monday, April 5, 2021 at 11:00 am at the Singer Cemetery, northeast of Bluff City, Kansas.  Friends may register 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. Sunday at Prairie Rose Funeral Home in Anthony.  Memorials in memory of Kathleen may be made to the United Methodist Church and may be sent in care of the funeral home.
