Katherine Marie "Kitty" Happ was born January 5, 1955 in Anthony, Kansas, the second oldest of five children born to Bobbie Lee and Phyllis Regina (Koehler) Mitchell. She grew up in Anthony graduating from Chaparral High School with the Class of 1973.
On September 22, 1973, Kitty married Richard Happ at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Anthony. This union was blessed with two children: Ashley Lynn and Edward Randall.
Kitty began her career at the Harper County Courthouse in 1974, working as a Deputy County Appraiser. She retired in 2019.
Kitty was a lifelong member of Sacred Heart Church where she was active in the Altar Guild for many years. She served on the Anthony Community Care Center Board and the Forest Park Cemetery Board.
On July 22, 2025, Kitty passed away at her home in Anthony surrounded by family. She was preceded in death by her son, Randy Happ; her father, Bob Mitchell; her father and mother-in-law, Dwight and Lois Happ; and brother-in-law, Mark Converse.
Kitty will be deeply missed by her husband, Richard Happ; daughter and son-in-law, Ashley and Rustin Wettstein; her mother, Phyllis Mitchell; grandchildren: Hallie Wettstein-Means and husband, Hunter and Charlie Wettstein and wife, Tyran; siblings: Teresa Poe-Thach and husband, Larry, Laura Malone, Cynthia Wilczek and husband, Victor, and Jim Mitchell and wife, Debbie; brother-in-law, Steve Happ; sister-in-law, Barbara Converse; several nieces and nephews; other relatives and many friends.
Recitation of Rosary will be held 9:45 a.m. with Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, July 25, 2025, both at Sacred Heart Church, Anthony, of the St. Joan of Arc Parish. Burial will follow in Forest Park Cemetery. Friends may sign the register book at the services.
Memorials in memory of Kitty may be made to Heartland Hospice and can be sent in care of Prairie Rose Funeral Home, 602 E. Main St., Anthony, KS 67003.
