Julie Ransom, 59, beloved wife, mother and grandmother passed from this life December 25, 2016 after complications during a brief hospital stay. Born to Samuel G. and Melvena (Houlton) Barker on April 19th, 1957, Julie grew up in Harper, Kansas and attended Chaparral High School. She became a hairdresser, working for many years. She married Rod Ransom and together they made homes in Kansas, Missouri, Illinois, and California, eventually settling in Ringwood, Oklahoma. Julie never met a stranger; she could talk to anybody. It was her way of meeting and making lifelong friends wherever she lived.
Preceded in death by her parents, Julie is survived by her husband Rod Ransom, her son Kirk (Wanda) Smith, Cheney, KS, brother Dan (Tana) Barker, Andover, Ks; in-laws Don (Donna) Ransom, Gerry (Ruth) Ransom, and Roger Ransom; the lights of her life, cherished grandchildren: Zane, Keeley, and Brigham Smith, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Julie never met an animal she didn't like, and considered her pets, Sassy, Blackie, Okie, and Lucky to be family. She loved to quilt and one of her biggest pleasures was finding a good deal while antiquing.
Funeral service will be held 10:00 a.m. Friday, December 30, 2016 at Prairie Rose Funeral Home in Anthony, KS. Burial will follow in Spring Grove Cemetery. Visitation will be held 1:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Thursday.
