Obituary

Juanita Marie Patterson was born July 8, 1944 in Freeport, Kansas, daughter of Everett and Pauline M. (Schlenz) Salser.  She grew up on the family farm and graduated from Anthony High School.

Following high school Juanita married Richard Hendrick and was blessed with three sons: Brian, Brad, and Brent.  They made their home in Manchester, OK.  She later married Owen Patterson on August 7, 1976. They made their home in Anthony.  Owen passed away on November 7, 1984.

Juanita worked as an EMT and at the Anthony Hospital for many years before going to work for the City of Anthony.

In 1998, Juanita began seeing Frank Hargett.  For 23 years, she and Frank enjoyed going to the casinos, driving through the mountains, fishing, antiquing, and various other things, as they loved doing everything together.

For many years Juanita looked forward to setting up a booth up at various antique shows. She spent countless hours refinishing antiques and "treasures."  She volunteered at the Anthony Thrift Store, where she got an opportunity to see many of the familiar faces she missed seeing after retiring.  She also enjoyed being outdoors, tending to her flowers and vegetables.

On July 9, 2021, one day after her 77th birthday, Juanita passed away.  She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, David and Doug Salser; step-son, Dwayne Hargett.

Juanita will be deeply missed by her companion, Frank Hargett; sons: Brian Hendrick (Beth), Brad Hendrick (Wendy), and Brent Hendrick; siblings: Susan Grimes (Harold), Daryl Salser, and Beth Fulton (Don); 3 grandchildren: Cheyenne Carver (John), Kaitlyn Hendrick, and Josh Hendrick; 1 great-grandchild: Jasper; step-daughters:  Jackie Hargett and son, Zvaughn Williams, and Amy Parker (Bruce) and daughter, Carson Mary Faye; many other relatives and friends.

Memorial service will be held 3:00 p.m. Sunday, July 18, 2021 at the Celebration Room on the west side of Higher Grounds & Leather Bounds.

Friends may sign the register 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Saturday at Prairie Rose in Anthony.
