John A. Goertz was born August 1, 1952 in Wichita, Kansas, son of Elmer and Wilma (Rozar) Goertz. He passed away October 29, 2017 at Via Christi St. Francis in Wichita, Kansas at the age of 65 years, 2 months and 28 days.

On August 25, 1973, John married Linda Linn Seifert in Wichita, Kansas. They were blessed with a daughter, Heather, and two sons, Matthew and Jason.

They made their home in Wichita for a few years, before moving to Harper County where John worked as a farm hand for a couple of local farmers. After his father-in-law retired, he and Linda moved to Bluff City and took over the Seifert family farming operation. John loved being a farmer.

John's children and grandchildren were always his first priority. He loved spending time with his grandchildren, fishing, taking them on field trips and teaching them to drive. He enjoyed going to car shows, camping and NASCAR.

John was preceded in death by his wife, Linda on February 12, 2015; his parents; one brother, Larry; mother-in-law, Imogene Seifert; sister-in-law, Rita Seifert; and great-nephew, Casey Seifert.

John will be deeply missed by his children: Heather York and husband, Pat and children: Tyann and Lane, Matthew Goertz and wife, Melinda and children: Austin, Hunter, Nautica, Kadence and Anakyn, and Jason Goertz and wife, Stephanie and children, Camie and Kaylee; his father-in-law, Galen Seifert; siblings: Sandy Bausch, Carol Turhune, Dan Goertz, Don Goertz and Mary Kathleen Winn; brother-in-law, Alan Seifert; sister-in-law, Dianna Sharp; and a host of other relatives and many friends.

Funeral service 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Prairie Rose Funeral Home, Anthony. Burial will follow at Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Bluff City.

Visitation 9:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. Wednesday at Prairie Rose in Anthony.

Memorials may be made to the Kansas Humane Society and may be sent in care of the funeral home.
