Joey Lee Jackson was born January 10, 1957 in Wellington, Kansas, son of Walter and Alma Lou (Billings) Jackson. The family lived in Anthony, Kansas, where Joe grew up and attended school. He began working in the family Septic Tank business at a young age.
Joe met and married Tanya Glenn. Joe brought to this union one son, Chris, and Tanya brought one daughter, Tessie. Together they were blessed with three daughters, Katie, Loretta, and Jennifer.
Joe had a gypsy soul so the family moved around a lot. They lived in many places and aside from working in the septic tank business, he would find work wherever it was available whether it be in the oilfield or construction. When it was time for the girls to start school, they settled in Argonia, Kansas. After Joe and Tanya divorced, he married Melissa Linn and gained another daughter, Tiffany.
He and Melissa divorced and Joe returned to Anthony. He married Pamela J. Helms and they spent their entire marriage in Anthony. This union blessed Joe with two stepsons, Jarrod and Jason.
Joe loved being outdoors. Every Friday the truck would be loaded by the time the kids got out of school and the family would be off to a lake, pond, or park, to enjoy a weekend of fishing, camping, hunting, and cold beverages! He enjoyed gardening, remodeling old spartans to flip, and cutting wood. Dancing was a favorite pastime and he was known as shoeless Joe Jack and George Jones was his favorite country singer.
On April 5, 2023, Joe passed away, surrounded by his family, at Wesley Medical Center in Wichita, Kansas at the age of 66. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Tanya; wife, Pam; brothers, Mark and Calvin Jackson; and nephew, Chad Jackson.
Joe will be deeply missed by his children: Katie Crippen, Loretta Jackson, Jennifer Jackson, and Chris Jackson; sister: Geneva Pfister; stepchildren: Tessie Glenn, Tiffany Glenn, Jarrod Washburn, and Jason Washburn; 9 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; other relatives; and many friends.
Memorial service will be held 2:00 p.m. Friday, April 14, 2023 at Prairie Rose Funeral Home in Anthony.
Memorials in memory of Joe may be made to the Joe Jackson Memorial Fund and can be sent in care of Prairie Rose Funeral Home, 602 E. Main St., Anthony, KS 67003.
