Obituary

Jimmy Bruce Ireland was born April 19, 1957 to Elden L. Ireland and Phyllis G. (Godbout) Ireland in Wichita, Kansas.  He attended Plainview School until 5 th grade. At that time, he attended school in Anthony and graduated from Chaparral High School in 1975.

After graduation, Jim went straight from the classroom to farming and ranching. In true Jim Ireland fashion, there was not enough acreage to keep him grounded. He and his brothers owned Ireland Brothers Trucking and Jim later started Ireland Sales.  Jim, a wheeler and dealer, sold everything from cows to Cadillacs. Not only could he sell ice to an Eskimo, he could sell bull to a politician. That is saying something.

In 1987 Jim married Shelly Patterson. Together they had 3 daughters. Jennifer, Brooklyn, and Taylor.

On February 22, 2003 Jim married Cynthia (Imel) Halsey. Cyndi blessed Jim with a bonus son and daughter, Matt and Jessica.

Jim enjoyed many hobbies. He had a collection of motorcycles, antique cars, and even a submarine at one time. Jim loved spending time at the lake. You have not been on a tube ride if Jim hasn't tried to throw you off into next week. Jim also loved to prank his many friends at the lake with "firecrackers." If you know, you know. Jim also loved spending time with his family and grandkids. He and his granddaughter Kyndel loved to call cows and sing Elvira together. Jim was very proud of being a Mason and Shriner and especially proud of being a part of the exclusive Royal Order of Jesters.

Jim will be remembered by his MANY friends as he did not know a stranger. When his grandson Cash was younger, he asked if Papa Jim was a celebrity. Jim's personality was one of a kind. He was a wonderful husband, a proud dad and grandpa, and a great friend. Jim was a legend and will be deeply missed.

Jim passed away July 31, 2022 at the age of 65.  He was preceded in death by his father, Elden Ireland; his mother, Phyllis Ireland; and brother, Randy Ireland.

Jim will remain forever in the hearts of his wife Cynthia (Cyndi) Ireland; his children and grandchildren: Jenny Moore, husband Kirk, and their children Kyndel and Kreed of Anthony, Brooklyn Breese, husband Trenton of South Haven, Taylor Polson, husband Micah, and their daughter Emmy of Pratt, Matt Halsey, wife Stephanie, and their children Avery, Kennedy, and Cotton of Clarendon, Texas, Jessica Wallace, husband Matt, and their son Cash of Canyon, Texas; his siblings, Kathy Ford, Mark Pfeifer, wife Judy, Kim Ireland, husband Kenny Poston, and Laquita Ireland; his many nieces and nephews whom he was very close with; other relatives, friends, and of course all his brothers from another mother.

Funeral service will be held 1:30 p.m. Friday, August 12, 2022 at the Christian Church in Anthony, Kansas.  A private family burial will be held in Forest Park Cemetery.

Memorials in memory of Jim may be made to the Shrine Plane of Mercy or to Harper County 4-H and can be sent in care of Prairie Rose Funeral Home, 602 E. Main St., Anthony, KS 67003.
