Obituary

Janice Arlene Porter was born April 1, 1948 in Anthony, Kansas, daughter of Everett and Tommie (Carnline) Bunch. She attended school in Attica graduating with the Class of 1966.

On September 11, 1966, Janice was united in marriage with Danny Porter at Attica, Kansas. This union was blessed with two children: Aaron and Wendi. They raised their family in Attica, Kansas.

Janice worked as a secretary for Abes Oilfield Service until retiring. She was a member of the United Methodist Church and the Order of the Eastern Star.

Janice loved her husband, children, grandchildren and great-grandchild. She was a very involved wife, mother and grandmother, cherishing every moment she had with her family. She was looking forward to her granddaughter's upcoming wedding.

She enjoyed working in her flower garden, ATV riding with her family, going to craft shows and shopping. Her most favorite pastime was hunting antlers in Wyoming with Danny for his hobby.

On September 14, 2017, Janice passed away at Via Christi St. Francis in Wichita, Kansas at the age of 69 years, 5 months and 13 days. She was preceded in death by her parents.

Janice will be deeply missed by her husband of 51 years, Danny Porter; her children: Wendi Cobb and husband, Brandon and Aaron Porter; 5 grandchildren: Ashley Porter and fiancé, Ford Carty, Jacob and Ethan Porter and Westin and Wyatt Cobb; 1 great-grandson, Gavin Porter; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Funeral service will be held 2:00 p.m. Monday, September 18, 2017 at the United Methodist Church in Attica, KS. Burial will follow in the Attica Cemetery.

Friends may register 9:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. Saturday and 1:00 p.m. - 5:00 p.m. Sunday at Prairie Rose Funeral Home in ANTHONY.

Memorials in memory of Janice may be made to the Kansas Humane Society, and may be sent in care of the funeral home.
