Janet K Highfill, affectionately known as Grandma J, passed away in Arkansas City, Ks. on November 3, 2022.

On Saturday, June 10, 2023 there will be Recitation of the Rosary at 10:00 am with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 am at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Anthony, Ks. Immediately following the Mass Janet will be laid to rest next to her husband at Forest Park Cemetery. A reception will take place after the burial at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Anthony. Please join the family and share your memories with them.

Janet was born in Anthony, Ks. to Thelma and George Durant on November 17, 1941. She was a graduate of Anthony HS, class of 1959.

Janet was a loving mother to 4, a grandmother to 11, and a great grandmother to 3.

Janet had an infectious laugh and a giving heart. She enjoyed canning and could be found stockpiling her jellies under the bed to be given to grandchildren and visitors alike. On a sunny day you could find her in the yard gardening. She often bought more bulbs than could be planted. She had a soft heart for animals and loved her dog Lulu.

She belonged to the third order of our Lady of Mount Carmel and dedicated her life to prayer. She made beautiful rosaries that she gladly shared.

Later in life she was reunited with her high school classmate and crush., Robert "Bobby" Highfill. They married and enjoyed a life together until his death 17 months earlier.

Janet will be missed by her 4 children, Monica Peppler (Travis) of Niceville, FL, Mike LaPlant (Barbara) of Lago Vista, TX, Mark LaPlant (Nancy) of Canyon Country, CA and Melissa LaPlant (Steve) of Grove City, PA. Sisters, Glenda Hale (Ron), Georgia Ricker (Phil) as well as her grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

Janet is proceeded in death by her loving husband, Bob, her parents George and Thelma Durant and her brother Jack Durant.
