Obituary

James Robert "JR" White, 89, departed this earthly realm on Sunday, December 11, 2016, at his home in Attica, Kansas. JR was born on November 18, 1927, in Sayre, Oklahoma to John and Mattie (Broddrick) White.

JR is preceded in death by his first wife, Jenette White. JR and Jenette married in November of 1952 and celebrated almost 59 years of marriage before her death in 2011.

On January 21, 2014, when JR was 86 years old, he took Gail Freeman , 71, as his bride. JR was very proud of his young wife and her energetic spirit and they were very happy together.

JR's passion was his love of Jesus Christ and his service in his local church. He filled dozens and dozens of spiral notebooks with Sunday school lessons and his thoughts on God, creation, the crucifixion, and the resurrection of Christ. He was also an accomplished guitarist and spent many hours composing songs praising Jesus and his saving grace. When he was about 82, he started singing and teaching bible classes at the nursing home in Attica. He would tell people tongue-in-cheek that he taught the "old folks" once a week. His greatest desire was that his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren come to a saving knowledge of the grace and greatness of our Lord and Savior.

JR is survived by his bride of (almost) 3 years, Gail, his three children, Joe (Robin) White, John (Claudia) White, and Cathey (Fred) Rhamy, his brother JD White, and his many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and a large extended family. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
