Jacob (Jack) Peter Waldschmidt, beloved husband, father, and grandfather, passed away on October 16, 2018 at the Villa Maria Skilled Nursing Center in Mulvane, Kansas.

Jack was born on March 12, 1933 in Ellis County to Herman and Pauline (Boos) Waldschmidt.  He graduated from Ellis High School in 1952, where he excelled in football and track.

Joining the Navy on December 9, 1952, Jack served his country proudly.  He was awarded the National Defense Service Medal and obtained the rank of Machinery Repairman Third Class.  Jack was transferred to the Reserves on July 20, 1956 and was then Honorably Discharged on December 8, 1960.

On January 25, 1958, Jack married the love of his life, June Garrison and they had four children, which they raised in Derby, Kansas.  Jack was an avid outdoorsman; active in Boy Scout Troop 692 and enjoyed camping and fishing.  A master machinist, Jack worked at several aircraft companies, including Boeing, Cessna, Learjet, L&S, and Q Corporation.  He also started his own machine shop business which he continued until his retirement.  Upon retiring, Jack and June moved from Derby to Attica, Kansas, where Jack pursued his passion of farming for several decades.  In his spare time, Jack enjoyed dancing with the Village Steppers and the Harper County Square Dancers.

Jack is preceded in death by his parents Herman and Pauline; his sister Kate Rodriguez; and his son Jeffrey Waldschmidt.  He will be missed and remembered by his wife, June Waldschmidt; children: Rachel (Kent) Coleman of Charlotte, North Carolina, Vickie (Arun) Gore of Atlanta, Georgia, and Gary (Dianne) Waldschmidt of Derby, Kansas.  Jack leaves behind 10 grandkids and 9 great-grandkids; brothers, Ralph (Dorothy) Waldschmidt of Ellis, Kansas and Leo Waldschmidt of Haysville, Kanas; sister Marilyn Walters of Walla Walla, Washington; several nieces and nephews; other relatives and friends.

Cremation has taken place.  Friends may register from 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. on Monday at the funeral home.

Graveside Service is 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, October 23, 2018 at the Attica Cemetery with Father Bob Pinninti officiating.

Memorial contributions may be given in Jack's name to the Villa Maria Skilled Nursing Center and can be sent in care of the funeral home.
