Jackie Gene Robinson, born January 26, 1925 to Clara L. Bowles and Hughie P. Robinson in Sand Creek, OK, went to be with the Lord on December 13, 2019 at the age of 94.  He was preceded in death by his parents, Clara and Hughie Robinson of Anthony, KS; 3 sisters: Marie Rickabaugh of Enid, OK, Gertrude (Trudy) Claflin-Hannah of Wakita, OK and Anthony, KS and Anna Leigh Robinson of Sand Creek, OK.

He is survived by his wife of 73 years, Nellie Robinson of Anthony, KS; his 4 children, Cathy Palermo and husband Chris of Anthony, KS, Gary Robinson and wife Debbie of Harper, KS, Dennis Robinson of Colwich, KS,  Laquita Smith and husband Chuck of Chehalis, WA; 7 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.

Jack graduated from Wakita High School and then joined the National Guard in 1943, where he proudly served his country for 42 years, retiring as Master Sergeant in 1985.

On April 14, 1946, Jack married the love of life, Nellie E. Tucker of Attica, KS.  Early in their marriage they managed the Midway Gas Station West of Anthony, near Waldron, KS. Jack was a mechanic by trade and later worked for some of the Anthony Automotive Dealerships until he eventually opened his own shop, Jack's Service Station, on Main Street.

Jack was a good mechanic that people trusted and he could fix or build most anything. He was always willing to help others out in their time need, even if it meant cold suppers and late nights. He continued his mechanic business from home after a 9 month tour with the Air National Guard in Seoul, Korea, after which he worked in the Supply Unit at McConnell Air Force Base in Wichita, KS until his retirement in 1985. After retirement he worked for USD 361 at the Bus Barn in Harper, KS until he fully retired in 1995.

Jack loved God and family and his country. He enjoyed tinkering on anything, painting, jewelry making, traveling with Nellie, supporting his grandchildren in their sports and music activities and teaching his great-grandchildren how to sing The Lord's Prayer. He loved living life and excelled at it for 94 years.  He will be missed by his family and friends.

Funeral service will be held 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, December 18, 2019 at the Anthony Christian Church.  Military interment will follow at Forest Park Cemetery, Anthony.

Visitation and Viewing will be held 9:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. Monday and Tuesday at Prairie Rose Funeral Home, Anthony.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Anthony Senior Citizens and may be sent in care of the funeral home.
