Obituary

Jack Vernon Foland was born July 14, 1925 in Almena, Kansas, son of Carl Everett Foland and Alta Linnie (Leuszler) Foland. Jack graduated from Almena High School in May, 1943.

On September 23, 1943, Jack enlisted in the United States Marine Corp. He was ranked as a Corporal in June of 1944 and was a qualified rifle expert and Aircraft Armorer, serving in the Pacific area from July 1944 to September 1945. Jack was honorably discharged on March 18, 1946.

Jack graduated from Kansas State University in January, 1950 with a degree in Business Administration.

On January 29, 1950, Jack was united in marriage with Mary Kathryn Watkins in Kiowa, Kansas.  This union was blessed with three children: Dan, Kay, and Greg.

Jack and Mary lived in Springfield and St. Louis, Missouri before settling in the Tulsa, Oklahoma area where Jack operated his insurance agency.

Jack loved fishing with his grandchildren and always had a master garden.

On March 27, 2019, Jack passed away at Montereau in Tulsa, Oklahoma at the age of 93 years. He was preceded in death by his parents; and all of his siblings: Marvel Gwendolyn Klute, Joseph Noel Foland, Neil Wayne Foland, Eugene Leroy Foland, Merle Everett Foland, and Theda Rowena Campbell.

Jack will be forever missed by his wife, Mary; his children: Dan Foland and wife, Alyson, Kay Park and husband, Dr. Paul Park, and Greg Foland wife, Nancy; 9 grandchildren: Carl Foland, Ashley Foland, Lacey Foland, Joe Park, Andy Park, Michael Park, Steve Park, Chuck Foland, and Robert Foland; 7 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews and a host of other relatives and friends.

Memorial service will be held 10:00 a.m. Sunday, March 31, 2019 at the Cobblestone Inn in Anthony, Kansas. Military graveside service will be at 11:15 a.m. at Spring Grove Cemetery, west of Anthony.

Viewing and visitation will be held 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Saturday at Prairie Rose Funeral Home in Anthony.

Memorials in memory of Jack may be made to a Charity of Donor's Choice and may be sent in care of the funeral home.
