Ira Martin "Marty" Campbell was born July 14, 1944 in Springdale, Arkansas, one of four sons born to J. Clarence and Maude Ruth (Franklin) Campbell. He grew up in Anthony, Kansas.

After school, Marty worked on power towers, at Kelly's Salvage in Harper and did a lot of woodworking.

In 1964, Marty was blessed with his first daughter, Sonya, followed by Carla in 1972 and Jennifer in 1977. In 1983, Marty met Glynda Hammans and they were blessed with one son, Gavyn.

In 1986, he moved from Anthony to Winfield where he began his career as a nurse aide at the State Hospital. In 1990, Marty received an Associate of Arts Degree in Psychology and Sociology from Coffeyville Community College. In 1992, he became a certified nurse aide and went to work at a nursing agency, working wherever he was called to, until retiring in 2013. Marty and Glynda lived in Arkansas, Missouri, Kansas and Oklahoma before moving to Kiowa in 2001.

In 1993, Marty was proud to become a grandpa and enjoyed welcoming his 12 grandchildren and 1 great-granddaughter. He and Glynda enjoyed traveling, which included several trips to Graceland, as they were both avid Elvis fans.

On May 24, 2017, Marty passed away in Wichita, Kansas at the age of 72 years, 10 months and 10 days. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brothers: Burl, Bennie and Larry.

He will be deeply missed by his wife, Glynda Hammans; his children: Sonya Kunesh, Carla Campbell and husband, Chad Tombleson, Jennifer Campbell, Gavyn Hammans and wife, Samantha, and stepdaughter, Gaye Little; 12 grandchildren; 1 great-granddaughter; numerous nieces and nephews; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. Sunday, May 28, 2017 at Prairie Rose Funeral Home in Anthony. Cremation will take place following the funeral.

Visitation will be held 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Saturday at Prairie Rose in Anthony.

Memorials may be made to the Ira Campbell Memorial Fund and may be sent in care of the funeral home.
