Henry A. Brotherton was born July 31, 1963 in Kiowa, Kansas, son of Ralph and Stella (Jacobs) Brotherton. He grew up in Manchester, Oklahoma and graduated from Wakita High School in 1982.

On December 31, 1991, Henry was united in marriage with Mary Ellington. Henry instantly became a father to Traci, and later they were blessed with their daughter, Lacy. They made their home in Anthony.

During his early years, Henry worked for Manchester Manufacturing and Ireland Trucking. He found his calling as a crane operator with Hall Industries. In the late 90's he went to work for Belger Cartage Services Inc. in Wichita, continuing as a crane operator. Henry loved running the crane and enjoyed being a part of the Belger family.

Henry was known as a gentle giant with a kind heart and a great sense of humor. He was a man of few words, but those he spoke he meant. He always amused everyone with his witty comebacks, and enjoyed giving a good scare when opportunities arose. His smiles will always be remembered . . . especially his mischievous one! He was an intelligent man who loved trivia and history, and could remember everything, whether it was useful or just random. He was an avid antique collector.

On October 24, 2016, Henry passed away at his home in Anthony at the age of 53 years, 2 months and 24 days. He was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers: Cliff, Mark and Darrel Bush.

Henry will be deeply missed by his wife, Mary Brotherton; daughters, Lacy Brotherton and Traci Bass and husband, Todd; brothers: Keith Brotherton and wife, Robin and Ernest Bush and wife, Cathy; sister, Leigh Reynolds and husband, Stephen; 2 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren: Cody Stephens and wife, Lindsey and their children, MaKinzie and Layne, and Harley Thompson and husband, Nate and their daughter, Kasey; several nieces and nephews; and a host of other relatives and many, many friends.

Cremation has taken place.

A memorial service will be held 11:00 a.m. Saturday, October 29, 2016 at Prairie Rose Funeral Home in Anthony.

Friends may register 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday, and 9:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. Friday at Prairie Rose in Anthony.

Memorials in memory of Henry may be made to the Henry Brotherton Memorial Fund and may be sent in care of the funeral home.
