Helen Lavae Mingle was born September 5, 1938 in Anthony, Kansas, daughter of Francis Clair and Lela Evelyn (Schindler) Asper.  She grew up in Harper County, graduating from Anthony High School with the Class of 1956.

Helen attended cosmetology school and began her career as a hairdresser in 1957.  She worked in Bea Nordgren's beauty shop for eleven years before opening her own beauty shop, The Glamourette.  After closing her beauty shop, she continued doing hair at CJ's and the nursing home and was currently still doing hair at Salon 214 and Country Living.

In 1959, she was blessed with her son, Doug, and he blessed her with four grandchildren.  Helen's family was her life.  She loved them immensely.  She rarely missed a sporting event, birthday party, or any other function for her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.  She was always excited to support her grandkids.  She worked alongside Doug, Melissa, and the grandkids at the Sporting Zone, on catering jobs, and at special events where they would sell corn, sno-cones, or BBQ.

On August 14, 1978, Helen married the love of her life, Donald Neal Mingle in Anthony.  He brought to this union three children:  Jeff, Greg, and Cindy.

Helen was a faithful member of the Church of Christ.  She and Neal helped with many church functions and even Church camp.  Appreciating all the ministers the church had throughout the years, Helen and Neal formed a very special bond with Gary Fox and his wife, Patty.  The two couples traveled together and became best friends.  Helen and Neal even took the time to travel to Kentucky to visit them after they moved.

Helen loved living life.  She enjoyed traveling, painting, crocheting, and quilting.  After Neal passed away, she enjoyed the company of several friends, especially Linda and Jean.

Helen was enjoying Memorial Day weekend at Lake of the Ozarks with Doug and family when she passed away suddenly on May 29, 2023.  She had spent her last weekend having fun on the trails and capturing all the beauty of the Ozarks.

Helen was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Neal; grandchildren: Tanner and MaKinze Angle; and brother, Larry Asper.

Helen will be forever missed by her son and daughter-in-law, Doug and Melissa Asper; her grandchildren: Michael Asper (Ashlea), Tiffany Asper (Jerry Angle), Rachel Fischer (Paul), and Kyle Asper (Tailynn); 15 great-grandchildren; brother, Gary Asper; and stepchildren, Jeff Mingle, Greg Mingle, and Cindy Loomis; other relatives and many friends.

Funeral service will be held 4:00 p.m. Tuesday, June 6, 2023 at the Church of Christ in Anthony with Mr. Gary Fox officiating.  Cremation will take place following the service and a private family inurnment will beheld at the Crystal Springs Cemetery, Crystal Springs, Kansas.

Friends may view and register from 9:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. Monday at Prairie Rose in Anthony.
