Waldron

Obituary

Georgia Maxine Hess was born February 12, 1936 in Kay County, Oklahoma, daughter of Carl Preston Rash and Goldie Blanch (Smith) Rash.  She spent her early childhood in Uncas, Oklahoma before moving to Wakita, Oklahoma where she graduated from high school.

On June 17, 1955, Georgia was united in marriage with Roy Theodore Hess.  After spending 4 years in California, while Roy served in the Army, they made their home in Waldron, Kansas where they were blessed with four children:  Max, Marty, Carla, and Monty.  Georgia spent her days as a wife, mother, homemaker, parts runner, secretary, truck driver, and cook, helping Roy with the farm and the machine and mechanic shop.

A truly kind soul, she always tried her best to bring a smile to everyone's face and help anyone she was able to.  She always opened her home to anyone and welcomed all her nieces and nephews to spend a few weeks during the summertime.  She loved entertaining.  An excellent cook she was known for her apple pies and onion rings. An avid embroiderer, she made pillowcases, scarves, blankets, and many other items to gift to her family and friends. Christmas was her favorite time of the year and every year she played Santa for Waldron and made sure that all the residents and children in town received a present.  She loved Christmas lights and often left hers up all year round.  She enjoyed reading, word searches, and played a mean game of checkers.

A loving and devoted wife and mother, only one thing came before her family and that was the Lord.  She was a faithful member of the Rosedale Church of Christ, serving the church in any way she could.  She taught her children to give glory to God and praise him.  She loved lifting her voice to Jesus, whether she was in church, the car, or doing the dishes.

On June 5, 2022, Georgia passed away at the Hospice House in Hutchinson, Kansas at the age of 86 years.  She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Roy, who passed on January 7, 2022; son, Marty; granddaughter, Brittany; siblings, Lois Weld and Leon Rash; and her parents.  Her faith and hope gave her peace in knowing she would be reunited in Heaven with many of her loved ones.

Georgia will be deeply missed by her children: Max Hess, Carla Hess, and Monty Hess; sister, Minnie Crain; brothers and sisters-in-laws: Faye Thompson, Allen Hess and wife, Tressie, and Edgar Hess and wife, Sherry; 4 grandchildren: Michael Hess, Kelly Hess, Colton Hess, and Clayton Hess; 2 great-grandchildren: Savannah and Shyanne Hess; several nieces, nephews, cousins, and many friends.

Funeral service will be held 2:00 p.m. Saturday, June 11, 2022 at Prairie Rose Funeral Home in Anthony.  Burial will follow in the Rosedale Cemetery, southwest of Manchester, OK.
