Geneva Claire (Benish) Cromwell passed away at the age of 93 at the Wakita Community Health Center, joining the Lord on March 27, 2019. She was born April 16, 1925 in Dalton, Nebraska, the oldest of four children born to William and Vivian (Lipska) Benish.

On August 8, 1944, Geneva was united in marriage with Jay Cromwell in Sidney, Nebraska. This union was blessed with two sons: Tony Allen and William "Bill." They made their home in Chappell, Nebraska for many years before moving to Wakita, Oklahoma.

One defining moment in Geneva's life was when she was recognized by the State of Oklahoma for her dedication to community service. She was truly honored to receive this recognition from the Governor.

Geneva was preceded in death by her husband, Jay in 1995; her youngest son, Bill in January 2019; and one brother, Kenneth Benish in 1982.

She will be deeply missed by her oldest son, Tony and his wife, Carol of Lancaster, KY; her daughter-in-law, Jeanette Cromwell of Manchester, OK; her five grandchildren whom she was very proud of: Lisa Berry and husband, Karl, Scott Cromwell, Jay Cromwell and wife, Leda, Chris Cromwell and wife, Martha, and Eric Cromwell and wife, Darla; 5 great-grandchildren: Nick, Megan, Cody, Kayla, and Joshua; sister, Billie Jean Griffiths; brother, Donald Benish and wife, Darlene; several nieces and nephews; her loving caregivers and Community Health Center family; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Memorial service will be held 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, April 2, 2019 at the United Methodist Church in Wakita, Oklahoma. Inurnment will follow at the Wakita Cemetery.

Friends may register from 9:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. Monday at Prairie Rose Funeral Home in Anthony.

Memorials in memory of Geneva may be made to the Community Health Center and may be sent in care of the funeral home.
