Gary George Misak was born on March 2, 1954, in Anthony, Kansas, the youngest son of Myrl Otto Misak and Patsy Violet (Shelton) Patterson.  He passed away peacefully at his home in Harper, Kansas on September 9, 2025, with family by his side.

Gary moved from Anthony to Freeport when he was 4 years old.  He attended elementary school in Freeport and high school at Chaparral.  There are stories of him riding his horse Little John to school many times.

On November 3, 1979, Gary married Jeannette Eileen (Barker) Misak at the Christian Church in Harper.  They had their son Bret in 1982.

Gary worked many different jobs throughout his life including Harper County Road and Bridge Foreman, he started and ran Misak Trucking, then he worked at Kelly's Salvage, High Grade Sand Company, and BRB Construction.  He always spoke highly of his time with Kelly's Salvage and BRB Construction.

Gary was an avid coon hunter and had many adventures with his Shelton uncles.  He was well-known for building and running derby cars and this was a passion that he passed on to many in the community, most especially his son, nieces and nephews, and grandkids.  He loved running heavy machinery, but his biggest joy was raising, riding, and being around horses.  If you asked him what his greatest treasure of his life was, he'd say it was spending time with his grandkids.

Preceding Gary in death are his parents, Myrl Misak and Patsy Patterson, and his daughter, Traci Misak.

Gary is survived by his wife, Jeannette of the home; son, Bret Misak (Jan) of Harper; son, John Shane Patterson (Pam) of Harper; grandchildren: Cassidy, Luke, Daytona, and Michael Misak, Tatum Henke, Josh (Adrienne), Brice, Trenton, Alyssa, Sarah (Hunter Arnold), and Annamay Patterson; great-grandchildren: Rylan, Wyatt, and Bexley; siblings: Marilyn Warnock, Myrl Misak (Mary Lou), Ernie Misak (Kris), and Ruth Alder (Randy); several nieces and nephews; other relatives and many friends.

Friends may view and register from 9:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Thursday at the funeral home.

Celebration of Life is at 10:00 a.m. Friday, September 12, 2025, at the Pleasant Valley Mennonite Church in Harper with Pastor Royce Vogt officiating.  Burial will follow at the Harper Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made payable to St. Jude Children's Hospital and can be sent in care of the funeral home.
