Gary Dale Duncan was born January 12, 1954 in Miami, Arizona to Jessie and Elizabeth (Bowden) Duncan. The family moved to Mesa, Arizona where he was raised by his mom and step-father, Charles Hughes. He graduated from Mesa High School in 1972.

Gary enlisted in the United States Navy after graduation. He served in the Vietnam War on the U.S.S. Denver. Upon his discharge, he made his home in San Diego, California where he met the love of his life.

Gary and Susan Ott were married on October 30, 1976. They moved to Wakita, Oklahoma in 1982, where he made his forever home.

Gary was most happy surrounded by his family, especially his five grandchildren. A collector of fine junk he loved to tinker. He was retired from the Wakita Volunteer Fire Department and was also a long time member of the First Baptist Church of Wakita.

On August 2, 2019, Gary passed away in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. He was preceded in death by his parents; step-father; two brothers; one sister; and his son, Marcus Duncan.

Gary will be deeply missed by his wife of 42 years, Susan of the home; daughter, Jessica Locke and husband, Stan Locke of Enid; son, Lucas Duncan of Wakita; daughter-in-law, Misty Duncan of Medford; daughter-in-law, Sereptia Willard of Alva; five grandchildren: Aaron, Brileigh and Cashion Duncan of Alva, Talan Duncan of Medford, and Killian Locke of Enid; and numerous other friends and family.

A Memorial Service will be held 10:00 a.m. Saturday, August 10, 2019 at the Wakita City Park on Cherokee Street in Wakita, Oklahoma. Military Honors will be performed by the U.S. Naval Honor Guard.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Gary Duncan Memorial Fund and may be sent in care of the funeral home.
