Garry Dean Nicholas was born May 24, 1941 in Harper, Kansas to Glenn Ray and Edith Marie (Huddleston) Nicholas.  He passed away on October 30, 2022 at the age of 81 years, 5 months, and 6 days. Garry was raised and graduated from Adams, Kansas.  He then moved to Zenda, Kansas, started his family, and later moved to Wichita, Kansas before returning home to Attica and Harper.

Garry married Vickie Rae Trotter on November 17, 1973, at the Spivey United Methodist Church.  She passed away on May 15, 2020.

One of the things Garry cherished most in life, was his children: son, Kevin and daughter, Kristin.  His family was so important to him, he always made a point to tell you he loved you.

Garry was what his granddaughter would deem an entrepreneur.  He was always looking for an opportunity to make some extra money.  One of his prized professions over the years was starting the family business, Nicholas Water Service.  After retirement there, he enjoyed running the Dari Cone, alongside Vickie.  In the last decade, he thoroughly enjoyed reliving his oilfield days through Kevin, Jerry, and Staci.  He also had lots of good stories to tell of his days as a car salesman in Wichita.

Garry loved shiny classic cars and spent many years making memories in the Shades of the Past.  He was a huge supporter of local businesses.  While he would say he didn't like people that much, he sure loved to visit.  Garry's life changed the day he joined AA.  He spent many evenings sharing his experiences and supporting others.  He was also a dedicated member of Cross Pointe Christian Church in Harper.

Preceding Garry in death were his parents; wife; daughter-in-law, Daphne Nicholas; niece, Cherle Wohlschlegel; and sister-in-law, Ronda Miller.  He is survived by his children, Kevin Nicholas (Janet) of Wichita and Kristin Harding (Ron Scholz) of Overland Park, Kansas; sister, Jody Wohlschlegel (Dale) of Harper; grandchildren: Staci Cushenbery (Jerry) of Harper, Kira Chapman (Joe) of Wichita, Scott Nicholas (Rachel) of Wichita, Logan Cain of Wichita, Bremen Scholz of Overland Park, Hannah Harding (Mike Cordes) of Grandview, Missouri, Emma Harding, Brenna Scholz, and Ryan Harding all of Overland Park; brother-in-law, Dave Miller of Attica; nephew and nieces: Gary Wohlschlegel, Brook Stitt, and Jamie Watts; 7 great-grandchildren, and other relatives and many friends.

Memorial Service is 10:30 a.m. Thursday, November 3, 2022 at Cross Point Christian Church in Harper with Pastor Dale Jones officiating.  A private family inurnment will take place at the Attica Cemetery.
