Galen D. Seifert was born April 7, 1930 in Harper County, Kansas, son of Herbert and Myrtle (Feely) Seifert. He grew up near Bluff City and graduated from Bluff City High School in 1949.
On June 21, 1952, Galen was united in marriage with Imogene Misak in Caldwell, Kansas. This union was blessed with three children: Dianna, Linda and Alan.
They made their home in Wichita where Galen owned a car detailing business. In the 1960's, after his father-in-law passed away, Galen and Imogene took over the family farming operation in Bluff City. After all their children graduated, he and Imogene moved back to Bluff City permanently.
Galen was a family man, who loved his wife, children and grandchildren deeply. He was a sweet man who everyone enjoyed being around. He also loved farming. He was especially proud of when he grew alfalfa. He always looked forward to spending time at the home they purchased at Kaw Lake. He was an avid fisherman and always enjoyed jug fishing.
On December 14, 2017, Galen passed away at the Anthony Community Care Center at the age of 87 years, 9 months and 7 days. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Imogene; daughter and son-in-law, Linda and John Goertz; daughter-in-law, Rita Seifert; great-grandson, Casey Seifert; and one brother, Daryl Seifert.
Galen will be deeply missed by his children: Dianna Sharp and companion, Roger Kandt and Alan Seifert and companion, Melanie Sherman; 5 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and many friends.
Graveside services will be held 2:00 p.m. Monday, December 18, 2017 at Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Bluff City, Kansas with Pastor Ron Eden officiating.
Visitation will be held 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Saturday and 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. Sunday at Prairie Rose Funeral Home in Anthony.
Memorials in memory of Galen may be made to the Anthony Community Care Center and may be sent in care of the funeral home.
