Frances Lou Laird was born at the farm north of Harper on August 4th, 1930 to Stella Morse and Lemuel Willard Laird. She was welcomed by her sister, Helen Joy, and her great-grandmother, Luanna Josephine Burkey Laird.

She married Walt Isenhower at the Harper Presbyterian Church on February 9, 1951. They had a daughter, Jennifer Lynn, at the Bush Hospital in Harper on New Year's Eve that same year. She welcomed another, Dana Jo, at the Joslin Hospital in Harper on October 1st, 1954. Frankie raised these two little girls with her own values - appreciation of family, respect for authority, an amazing work ethic, and most of all a sense of fun and humor.

Frankie spent most of her life as a caregiver to aunts, uncles, parents, and her children. In 1981 she was married to Walter Johnson. Janel and Carol were still in high school so Frankie helped finish raising her steps. She loved these two plus Phil, Barbara, and Kevin like they were her own. The glue that held the family together became more evident as the years went by. Even with all this, she had a life-long career in Harper and retired from Wedman Ford at the age of 74.

She served on the Harper City Council and was an Elder in the Harper Presbyterian Church.

Frankie was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Walt Johnson. She is survived by her daughters, Jeffy (Ralph Beaver) and Dana (Ken Davidson); sister, Helen Watts; her six grandchildren: Corey Knoettgen, Casey Schreiber (Matt), Molly Donsky and Seth (Holly), Ian (Whitney) and Beau (Kristen) Davidson; and 10 great grandchildren: Chance Murphy, Grayce, Emilia, and Oliver Schreiber, and Drew, Stella, Justus, Vienna, Kael, and Mirabel Davidson.

Frankie's later life was spent at the Farm, and she was never lonely. She loved her critters - flocks of wild turkeys, deer, squirrels, raccoons, armadillos, and birds. She fed them every day of her life.

The past 8 months she was cared for at Country Living in Anthony, Kansas. She passed away with her daughters and son-in-law present on Friday morning, December 15, 2017.

Frankie loved Harper and Harper loved her. She will be missed by many and not forgotten.

In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to Harper Presbyterian Church or Harper Historical Society and can be sent in care of the funeral home.

Friends may view and register on Monday from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. at the funeral home.

Funeral Service is at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, December 19, 2017 at Prairie Rose Funeral Home in Harper. Interment will follow at the Harper Cemetery.
