Flora Belle (Ransom) Guthrie was born July 7, 1921 in Sand Creek, Oklahoma, the oldest of seven children born to John and Lucinda Belle (Ayres) Ransom. She graduated from Wakita High School with the Class of 1939.
On May 23, 1940, Flora Belle was united in marriage with Howard William Guthrie. To this union four children were born: John Howard, Judy Ann, Danny Wayne, and Steven Lee.
Flora Belle gave her life to the Lord as a young lady. She was baptized in the Sand Creek Methodist Church and later became a member of the Wakita Christian Church with her husband and children. She was an active member serving as a treasurer and deaconess for many years.
Flora Belle worked for the Farmers Cooperative Elevator Company as a bookkeeper until retiring. She was active in CWC and Crown, a past Matron of the Eastern Star, a lifetime member of Sorority, and Wakita Senior Citizens. She loved to play bridge, read and crochet.
On August 6, 2026, Flora Belle passed away at the Community Health Center one month after her 105th birthday. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Howard on July 21, 1995; three of her children: Dan Guthrie, John Guthrie, and Judy Baker; two siblings: John Ransom and Jean Betts; and two grandchildren.
Flora Belle will be deeply missed by her son, Steve Guthrie and wife, Ruth; siblings: Clifton Ransom, Gary Ransom, Donna Fisher, and Orma Paino; 5 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; 6 great-great grandchildren; other relatives and many friends.
Graveside service will be held 10:30 a.m. Monday, August 10, 2026 at the Wakita Cemetery in Wakita, Oklahoma with Pastor Jeff Enabnit officiating.
Memorials in memory of Flora Belle may be made directly payable to the Community Health Center and can be sent in care of Prairie Rose Funeral Home, 602 E. Main St., Anthony, KS 67003.
