Frances Ruth Perry was born May 22, 1939 in Anthony, Kansas, the oldest child of Hubert D. and Norma Frances (Hughes) Reid. She attended Star Valley Grade School and Corwin Grade School before graduating from Hazelton High School in 1957. She missed being valedictorian by 1 point.
On November 26, 1961, Ruth married Robert Perry in Corwin, Kansas. This union was blessed with two sons: Douglas and Dennis. She was a homemaker until the boys were raised and then she began cleaning homes for people. If Ruth cleaned your house more than once she was your friend forever.
Family was her whole life. Big dinners, and later cookouts, always insisting on lots of food. Her thought was if you’re early, you’re on time, if you’re on time, you’re late, and if you’re late, it was unacceptable.
Ruth was a member of the Burchfiel United Methodist Church. She was the leader for Tops (take off pounds successfully) for several years. She worked at the Historical Museum of Anthony for thirty-five plus years.
On June 20, 2026, Ruth passed away at Country Living at the age of 87. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert on December 30, 1999; her parents; and 3 siblings that passed in infancy.
Ruth will be deeply missed by her sons: Douglas Perry and Dennis Perry; brothers: Roger (Wanda) Reid and Tommy Reid; and numerous nieces and nephews on both sides of the family.
Funeral service will be held 2:00 p.m. Friday, June 26, 2026 at the United Methodist Church in Anthony. Burial will follow in Forest Park Cemetery.
Friends may view and register from 9:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. Thursday at Prairie Rose Funeral Home in Anthony, with the family present to greet friends from 5-7p.m.
