Franklin Everett Stewart was born on November 23, 1935 in rural Sweetwater, Oklahoma to Jacob Franklin and Della Rose (Macklin) Stewart.  The family moved to Byron, Oklahoma when Everett was 6 and this is where he attended school.  He graduated from Byron-Driftwood High School with the class of 1954.

On July 10, 1954, Everett was united in marriage with Carolyn Underwood in Cherokee, Oklahoma.  This union was blessed with three children: Sherri, Kathy, and Randy.  Moving to Sand Springs, Oklahoma in 1955, Everett began his 39-year career with C.R. Anthony Company.  A clothing store with many locations, he managed the stores in Winfield, Kansas and then Garden City, Kansas until his retirement in November of 1994.  In April of 1995, he and Carolyn moved to Harper, Kansas.

Everett was active in many organizations, including Lions Club, Chamber of Commerce, and the Garden City Recreation Commission.  He had coached baseball in the past and enjoyed playing golf through retirement.  In his 70 years as an active Methodist, Everett served on numerous church committees both at Winfield First United Methodist Church and Harper United Methodist Church.

At the age of 83 years, 5 months, and 15 days, Everett passed away on May 7, 2019 at the Harper Hospital.  Preceding him in death are his parents, Frank and Della Stewart.  Left to cherish his memories are his wife, Carolyn of Harper; sister, Lois Hofmeier and her husband, Lee of Harper; children: Sherri VanFossen and her husband, Brad of Olathe, Kansas, Kathy Peck and her husband, David of Wellington, Kansas, and Randy Stewart and his wife, Norma of Olathe, Kansas; grandchildren: Kerri Siscoe and her husband, Sam, Kendra VanFossen and her husband, Rick Wheeler, Sara Peck, Brian Peck, Aubrey Douglas and her husband, Coleson, Allison Stewart, and Aaron Stewart; great-grandchildren: Matthew, Mikenna, and Grace; other relatives and many friends.

Visitation is 9:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. Thursday with family present to greet friends from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home.

Funeral service is 10:00 a.m. Friday, May 10, 2019 at the United Methodist Church in Harper with Reverend Wes Young officiating.  Interment will follow at the Harper Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Harper United Methodist Church and can be sent in care of the funeral home.
