Erwin Arnold Peterson "Doc" was born March 25, 1935 to Ulysses "Pete" and Ruby Peterson in Bushton, Kansas. He and his twin brother Merwin were welcomed home by their older sisters, Doris and Annette.
After he graduated from Bushton High School in 1953, he went on to study at Kansas State Teachers College in Emporia where he also played football. He graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Education in 1957. He then went on to earn a degree of Doctor of Dental Surgery from the University of Missouri in Kansas City, Missouri in 1961. Erwin and Merwin opened their own dental practice later that year in Buffalo, Oklahoma.
Erwin married Sylvia Rasmussen and they were blessed with three children, Nina, Nancy, and Lisa.
On July 3, 1964, Erwin and Vada were married. Along with their three children, Rick, Judy, and Tami, they moved to Anthony, Kansas in June of 1969. The same year he opened his dental office where his daughters Judy and Tami later joined him and worked until his retirement in 2012.
He loved hunting, fishing, and golfing. His great love of fishing in particular was shared with his parents and brother as they took many fishing trips to Canada and Mexico. He passed his love of fishing onto several of his grandchildren, as he enjoyed taking them fishing as often as he could.
Erwin was a member of the Church of Christ, he was a devoted Christian man. He and Vada enjoyed sitting on the front porch drinking coffee and studying the Bible together. He loved the Lord and it showed.
Erwin is proceeded in death by his wife, Vada; parents, Pete and Ruby Peterson; sister, Annette Walker; twin brother, Merwin Peterson; and grandson, Michael Randolph.
He will be deeply missed by son, Rick Randolph of Anthony, Ks, daughters, Judy Pfeifer (Mark) of Mulvane, Ks; Tami Walker (Steve) of Anthony, Ks; Nina Horn (Dale) of Checotah, Ok; Nancy Bross (Rex) of Yukon, Ok; Lisa Batt (Darren) of Woodward, Ok; and sister, Doris Laird of Topeka, Ks.
Memorial service will be held 2:00 p.m. Saturday, December 16, 2023 at Prairie Rose Funeral Home in Anthony. A private inurnment will be held at Spring Grove Cemetery.
Memorials in memory of Erwin may be made to the Church of Christ or to Anthony Senior Citizens and may be sent in care of Prairie Rose Funeral Home, 602 E. Main St., Anthony, KS 67003.
