Edith L. Capps, 79 of Attica, Kansas passed away November 17, 2021 at the Kansas Heart Hospital in Wichita, Kansas. She was born on August 29, 1942 in Sterling, Kansas, the daughter of John and Mary (Freeman) Cruth.
Living most of her adult life in Attica, this is where Edith owned and operated the local Café and was co-owner of Shawnee Well Service, Inc until her retirement. She was actively involved with the Attica Senior Citizens Center and enjoyed spending time with her friends. Gardening and maintaining her many flowers gave her such joy. Edith enjoyed taking Sunday trips to the casino, where she was often lucky.
Edith married the love of her life, Marvin Capps at the age of 14. Together they shared 49 years of love. Marvin passed away in 2007. To this union three children were born: Gail, Marvin Linn Jr, and Jeff.
Preceding Edith in death are her parents; husband, Marvin; daughter, Gail Prescott; great-granddaughter, Anna Tatro; stepfather, Weldon ManWarren; brothers: Ralph, Jerry, Alva, and Robert (Bob) Cruth; and sister, Ruby Loucks. She is survived by her sons, Marvin "Linn" Capps Jr of Attica and Jeff (Diana) Capps of Harper, Kansas; grandchildren: Amanda Pool, Justin (Kaitlin) Tatro, Logan (Corissa) Capps, Katie (Tyler) Zimmerman, and Adam (Alissa) Capps; 13 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild; sister, Mary Lou Valentine of Hutchinson, Kansas; other relatives and many friends.
Visitation is 9:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
Funeral Service is 3:00 p.m. Saturday, November 20, 2021 at Prairie Rose Funeral Home in Harper with Father Bob Pinninti officiating. Burial follows at the Attica Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Paul Bannister Memorial Alliance (Attica's Christmas toy drive to honor Edith's love for Christmas and giving to children) or Attica Senior Center and can be sent in care of Prairie Rose Funeral Homes, 613 W 14th St ~ Harper, Kansas 67058
