Eddie Roe Barber was born on August 1, 1940, to Rural and Reba Barber.  He and his twin were born at home in Newark, Arkansas.  The family moved to Wichita, Kansas in 1952 where Eddie graduated high school in 1958.

After graduation, Eddie married Shaaron Forister.  They had 2 sons, Greg and Brian, before moving the family to Tempe, Arizona.  After the untimely death of his wife, he moved back to Kansas to be close to family.

Eddie was employed as a machinist for his first career, working at Morrell Tool & Die, CAC Tool & Die, and Boeing.  His second career was being a minister.  His goal was to preach for 25 years but health issues cut that short by a couple of years.  During his time as a minister, he performed many wedding ceremonies, including 3 of his children and 5 of his grandchildren.

After raising his boys, in 1984, Eddie married Elaine High and welcomed her 5 grown children as his own.  They enjoyed many years of adventure before Elaine's health declined.  Eddie lovingly cared for her until her passing in 2011.  Eddie continued to travel, enjoying time with his children and grandchildren, until his health declined.  In 2022, he moved to Lewisville where he quickly made friends at The Haven apartment complex and Garden Ridge church of Christ.  In April, he was diagnosed with colon cancer and chose not to pursue treatment, but instead, to look forward to his victory over death.

Eddie gained his heavenly crown on July 8, 2025, surrounded by his family.  He was preceded in death by his wife Shaaron; his parents Rural and Reba Barber, his siblings: Nolan Barber, Patsy Saffell, and Ruth Barber; his wife Elaine Barber; and his stepson Rick High.  He is survived by his twin brother Ted (Beverly) Barber; his children: Greg (Rachel) Barber, Brian (Pam) Barber, Bob (Eva) High, David (Nancy) High, Mary (Douglas) Clouse, and Cheryl (Mikel) Wintermantel; 16 grandchildren and 23 great grandchildren; and many more that he considered as his family.

Memorial Service is 10:00 a.m. Friday, August 8, 2025 at the Eastside church of Christ in Harper, Kansas.  Inurnment will take place at the Harper Cemetery.
