Dorothy Luella Ohlrogge was born February 25, 1930, in Argonia, Kansas to John Henry and August Jane (Moore) Hartle. She passed away in Denver, Colorado on April 19, 2023 at the age of ninety-three.
On March 18, 1951, Dorothy was united in marriage with John H. Ohlrogge. They were blessed with fifty-seven years of marriage before his passing on November 11, 2008. To this union, four children were born: Susan, Cheryl, Jane, and John. The family has lived in the Commerce City, Colorado area for over fifty years.
Dorothy worked as a Ward Secretary at Presbyterian St. Luke's Medical Center for almost twenty years before retiring. This is when her love for adventure grew. Dorothy was always out in nature telling one of her many grandchildren to pose for a picture on the largest rock, or flowers, or a sign. She was always excited for her next adventure, whether it was going across the country or a trip to the goodwill. One of her favorite camping destinations was Camp Dick. Many memories were born at this campsite, from healing scrapes and cuts from playing, to taking "bird baths" in the sink of the camper. Dorothy was always inspiring the grow of adventure. She loved her family, fancy hats, Christmas and Christmas lights, Pepsi Cola, and speed-reading books while eating snacks. She was one of a kind and will forever be cherished in our hearts.
Dorothy is survived by her daughter, Cheryl (Ohlrogge) West, of Commerce City and son, John Ohlrogge Jr. and his wife, Bonnie of Corydon, Kentucky; son-in-law, Chad Horner of Commerce City; eight grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends. She is now reunited with her parents, John and Jane Hartle; husband, John; and daughters, Susan Horner and Jane Ohlrogge.
