Dorothy Nadene Garancosky was born February 21, 1933 in Danville, Kansas, daughter of Michael Curtland and Pearl Blanche (Shelton) Earnest. After graduating from Harper High School, Dorothy attended nursing training at Fort Scott, Kansas, receiving her Registered Nurse License.

On September 4, 1954, Dorothy was united in marriage with Ramon Williard Garancosky at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Danville, Kansas. This union was blessed with six children: Mike, Patty, Debby, Tim, Steve and Jenny.

Dorothy and Ramon made their home in Anthony, where Dorothy worked as a RN at the Anthony Hospital for nearly 45 years before retiring. She was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Anthony, of the St. Joan of Arc Parish, and was very passionate about her beliefs.

Dorothy had a heart of gold and always put her family and friends first. She was a talented crafter and loved making gifts for everyone. She was skilled at quilting, crocheting, and all arts and crafts. She even made her own shroud for her casket.

On September 12, 2018, Dorothy passed away at her home in Anthony at the age of 85 years, 6 months and 22 days. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ramon on July 5, 2009; her daughter, Jenny Newman; grandson, Danny Garancosky; and brothers: Mike, Dean and Gene Earnest

Dorothy will be deeply missed by her children: Mike Garancosky and wife, Thuan, Patty Gerdes and husband, Paul, Debby Holst and husband, Barry, Tim Garancosky and wife, Christine, and Steve Garancosky; 12 grandchildren; 11 great- grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and many friends.

Recitation of Rosary will be held 10:00 a.m. with Mass of Christian Burial following at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, September 15, 2018 at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Danville, of the St. Joan of Arc Parish with Celebrant, Father Bob Pinninti. Cremation will take place following the Mass and a private inurnment will be held at Fairview Cemetery, Danville.

No visitation will be held prior to the day of the service.

Memorials in memory of Dorothy may be made to the St. Joan of Arc Parish and may be sent in care of the funeral home.
