Donald Elton Steele was born on July 11, 1932 in Rago, Kansas, one of seven children born to Arthur Elton and Ethel Pauline (Whitelaw) Steele.  After graduating from high school, Donald served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War.

Donald was united in marriage with Frances June Gurss on August 18, 1973 in Denver, Colorado and she preceded him in death on January 20, 2022.

Becoming a resident at the Attica Long Term Care in 2022, this is where Donald passed away on September 27, 2024.  He is preceded in death by his parents; wife; infant brother, Lee; brother, Dwight "Butch"; and sister, Mary Gwen Taylor.  He is survived by his children, Donnie Steele and Diana Martinez of Mesa, Arizona; siblings: Della Patterson of Eugene, Oregon, DeeDee Braden of Augusta, Kansas; and Ron Steele and his wife, LuAnn of Harper, Kansas; sister-in-law, Sharon Gurss; special nephew, Jarred Gurss; several nieces and nephews; other relatives and friends.

Cremation has taken place and family has taken Donald home to Colorado.  Services in Colorado will be decided at a later date.
