Obituary

Donald Lee Gill, a kind and gentle man to all who knew him, passed away on January 11, 2019.  He was born June 16, 1934 in Hodgeman County Kansas to Richard Guy and Eula (May) Gill.

He married Joan Crocker on July 19, 1952 in Attica, Kansas.  To this union was born sons, Gregory and Jeffrey and daughters, Stephanie and Meg.  Don was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather.

For many years, Don was an active member of the First Christian Church in Attica.  He served as a Deacon and taught Sunday school.  Don, Joan, and all four children graduated from Attica High School.  Don graduated from Kansas State University with an Education degree.  He wore his "Power Cat" hat up to his very last days.  Don taught school in Attica for over 35 years.  He was a highly revered and respected teacher (especially by his own children that were in his class).  Don was also a wheat farmer and raised Angus cattle.  He always used to say this was his hobby and he had a true love for it.  He was very proud to own a 100 Century farm.  Don was a member of the Masonic Lodge, served a term on the Attica Hospital Board, and was a member of the Farm Bureau during his retirement.

Don is preceded in death by Joan, his wife of 62 years; son Gregory; his parents, Richard and Eula Gill; brother Richard; and sister Ruth Stuart.

He will be missed by his children: son, Jeff and wife Tammy of Tulsa, Oklahoma; daughters, Stephanie Griggs and her husband Rick of Grand Junction, Colorado and Meg Young and her husband Bob of Tulsa, Oklahoma; In-laws: Ruth and Gene Carpenter and family; Becky Casey and family; Rex and Barbara Crocker and family.  Papa Don will be greatly missed by his 11 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren.  He will be missed by his beloved Heritage Estates staff and residents, many other relatives, friends, and former students.
