Obituary

Donald (Don) H. Couch, 87, of Attica, Kansas, passed away on December 24, 2025. He was born on May 24, 1938 in Shawnee, Oklahoma, to Don and Maxine Couch.

Don was a man of great faith in God and His word. He trusted the Lord dearly and lived his faith daily by doing what was right and taking care of the people around him. He was a longtime member of Anthony church of Christ, where he worshiped and led faithfully.

As manager of the Garvey Grain/Anthony Coop elevators in Attica, Kansas, he put his customers first in many ways.  It was in the oil fields his family became established, and after retirement he enjoyed daily his time working at the Attica Nursing Home doing anything the facility needed.  He was never afraid of hard work or long days. He believed in earning his way and keeping his word. Those who worked beside him knew him as dependable, fair, and always willing to lend a hand.  He served as the Mayor of Attica, a Harper County EMT, and a member of the Attica Lions Club.

Family meant everything to Don.  His dedication to his wife, Bonnie, of 68 years was cherished by her and his family as they were a perfect example to their 25 great grandchildren, 7 grandchildren, three sons and their wives. He enjoyed simple things — time at home, visiting with friends, being outdoors, and the quiet satisfaction of a good day's work.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Don and Maxine Couch, two sisters Mary Hart, Patty Worthy, and brother, Gerald Couch.  He is survived by his loving wife, and three sons, Tony, Scott, and Michael, along with many friends, neighbors, and coworkers who will remember him as a good man who lived an honest life.

Viewing will be held from 9:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. Monday with the family present to greet friends from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Prairie Rose Funeral Home in Anthony.

Funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, December 30, 2025 at the Anthony Church of Christ, with burial following at Hunt Cemetery, on SE 30 Ave in rural Kingman County, Kansas.
