Dennis Lawrence Yunker was born December 4 th 1950 to Lawrence and Louise (McCoy) Yunker. Denny was raised in Wakita, Oklahoma and graduated from Wakita High School in 1969.
He served six years in the Army National Guard of Kansas with an honorable discharge in 1975. He attended Northwestern Oklahoma State University in Alva.
In 1970, Denny married Martha Gibson and together they had two sons: Lawrence and Jacob.
Denny married Fawna Miller in October 1991. Together they had three children: Kathryn, Matthew, and Andrew.
Denny worked as a custom cutter during wheat harvest until the early 90's. He then began Yunker Construction Company. Denny was a very hard worker and instilled a strong work ethic in each of his children. He was active in the St. Mary's Assumption Catholic Church of Wakita where he taught Sunday School. He was a member of several different community and state organizations.
A family man, Denny loved spending time with his wife, children and grandchildren. He was a supportive parent, always being involved with all of the kids' activities. He will always be a friend to many and greatly missed by all who knew him.
Due to complications from a short but fierce battle with lung cancer, he went to be with our Lord and Savior on August 28 th 2018 at St. Mary's Regional Medical Center in Enid, Oklahoma. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Denny will be deeply missed by his wife, Fawna, of the home; sons: Lawrence and wife, Laura, of Enid, Jacob, of Oklahoma City, Matthew and Andrew, of Wakita; and daughter, Kathryn, of Wakita; one brother, David and wife, Beth, of Yukon, Oklahoma; and a sister, Joan Adelman and husband, Mike, of Yukon; two grandchildren: Britton and Briley, of Enid; many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews and a host of friends.
Remembrance and Rosary service will be held 6:30 p.m. Friday and Mass of Christian Burial 10:00 a.m. Saturday at St. Mary's Assumption Catholic Church in Wakita, Oklahoma. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery in Medford, Oklahoma. Visitation will be held 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Friday at Prairie Rose in Anthony.Saturday
