Delmar Leon Evans was born February 7, 1938, at Bush Hospital in Harper, Kansas. He was the youngest of six children born to Ernest Cleo Evans and Ima Tinia (Pearl) Evans. Delmar grew up on a beautiful farm on the outskirts of Harper. He attended Enterprise Rural School and graduated from Harper High School with the class of 1957.
On June 8, 1958, Delmar married the love of his life, Deanna Holtsclaw of Harper. They would have celebrated 68 years of marriage this year. After their wedding, Delmar and Deanna moved to Wichita, where they welcomed two sons, Kevin Dale Evans and Brian Lee Evans. Delmar was a proud veteran and served in the military from 1960 to 1966. Following his service, the family moved back to Harper, where they lived for the remainder of his life.
Delmar held various roles throughout his career, ranging from working as a milkman to serving in the aerospace industry for several companies. He eventually retired from Boeing after more than 20 years of service, during which time he had the opportunity to work on Air Force One. Alongside his professional career, he shared his passion for community and family by running the local Rolla Rena Skate Center in Harper with his family since 1972.
In his free time, he enjoyed traveling with family and friends to his favorite destination, Branson, Missouri, creating many cherished memories.
Delmar and Deanna were blessed with four grandchildren—Allison, Jacob, Walker, and Elliott Evans—and two great-grandchildren, Noah and Charlotte Jones.
