Delbert Ray McDaniel was born on April 24, 1953 in Nashville, Kansas to Bobby Harris and Delores Marie (Davis) McDaniel.  He attended grade school in Attica, Kansas and graduated from Attica High school in 1971.

On October 31, 1970, Delbert married Cathy Jane Niemann in Harper, Kansas at the Saint Patrick's Catholic Church.  To this union was born two children, Christie and Brad.  Delbert got his pilot's license and embarked on what would become a lifelong career in sales and marketing and doing what he loved, taking care of people.  He had passion for smoking brisket and could always be found cooking up a feast for friends, family, and customers for most holidays.

Delbert had a passion for sales and truck parts.  He began working at Jarvis in Anthony, then John Deere.  Later, he opened his own business, Mac's Farm and Auto Supply.  After spending most of their lives in Harper County, Delbert and Cathy made the big move south to Benbrook, Texas, where Delbert took his knack for chit chat and dominated the truck part sales industry.  After working over 50 years, he and Cathy moved to Valley Center and looked forward to a relaxing retirement.

Those who know Delbert well, knows he loved a good joke, ornery prank, and lived to make others laugh.  He recently changed his phone ringtone to a doorbell sound so Cathy would think the doorbell was ringing at the house.  His favorite holiday was Halloween because he loved to dress up and have a good time.  Delbert loved people.  He never knew a stranger and always knew how to make people feel comfortable.  If he could pick up the tab, he would. Delbert's strong work ethic resides in all of us.  He taught his family to work hard for what you want.

Delbert passed away at his home in Valley Center, Kansas on December 27, 2021.  He will be missed by his wife, Cathy of the home; children, Christie Fallin and her husband, Richard of Wichita, Kansas and Brad McDaniel and his wife, Valerie of Ft. Worth, Texas; grandchildren: Trevor Bebermeyer, Chance Bebermeyer (Amber), Maddie Higgins (Tyler), Brenner McDaniel (Macie Millhollon), Teagan McDaniel (David McClendon); great-grandchildren: Emma Higgins, Conor Higgins, Cole Bebermeyer, Karsen Bebermeyer, and Hazel McDaniel; sister, Cindy Arnoldy and her husband, Dan of Valley View, Texas; sister-in-law, Karen McDaniel of Wellfleet, Nebraska; niece, Laurie Patton (Mark) of Richardson, Texas and nephew, David Arnoldy (Skylar) of Valley View, Texas, many other relatives; and many friends.

Delbert is preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Dennis.

Visitation is Thursday from 9:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. with family present at 1:00 p.m. at the funeral home.

Graveside Service is 3:00 p.m. Thursday, December 30, 2021 at the Attica Cemetery.
