Lawrence Dean Patterson was born September 14, 1937 in Fairview, Oklahoma, son of George Lee and Pauline (Smith) Patterson. He passed away April 13, 2025 at his home near Manchester at the age of 87.
Dean was the oldest of three children, followed by Beverly, who he lovingly called four eyes, and then Carolyn, who he lovingly called Dolly Waton comes a Trotten, a fitting nickname for his little sister who was always telling on him.
Dean lived in several states, Missouri, Kansas, Colorado, and Oklahoma. He had many occupations in his 87 years. He served our Country as a Sergeant in the Army. He was talented in blacksmithing and tool making. He loved to build things, some of his interesting projects being a ferris-wheel, teeter-totter, and stilts. He had a truck farm in Colorado and Kansas. He worked as a surveyor for highways in Kansas. His last occupation was ranching.
Dean was blessed with four children: Dana Patterson, Lawrence Dean Patterson II, Dianne (Rick) Segura, and Michael Patterson; two grandchildren: Savannah Levinski and Dominic Curtis; and three great-grandchildren: Jason, Triston, and Zoey Curtis.
Dean married Nelda (Hendrick) Bartell on May 27, 2006. He gained two stepdaughters, Linda (Neal) Gordon and Tammy (Mark) Scripsick; 7 step-grandkids; and 7 great-grandkids. He is also survived by his sisters, Beverly Liticker and Carolyn Stevens and husband, Gerald; several nieces, nephews, and friends.
Dean was preceded in death by his parents and his daughter, Dana.
Funeral service will be held 2:00 p.m. Friday, April 18, 2025 at Prairie Rose Funeral Home in Anthony with Neal Gordon officiating. Burial with military honors will follow at the Burchfiel Cemetery, south of Anthony.
In lieu of flowers, memorials in memory of Dean may be made to the Burchfiel Cemetery or a charity of donor's choice, and can be sent in care of Prairie Rose Funeral Home, 602 E. Main St., Anthony, KS 67003.
