Dean Edward Bellin was born on February 18, 1949 in Blackwell, Oklahoma to Carol Jean (Clark) Bellin and Merble O'dean Bellin of Deer Creek, Oklahoma. Dean lived on the family farm and attended first grade at the Eureka Country School. He then attended grades 2-12 at Deer Creek Grade/High School. Two months before graduation he enlisted in the United States Naval Reserve for a six year enlistment, and was honorably discharged in 1973 as a Second Class Commissary man. Upon returning home from active duty he took up employment with the Clyde Co-op at the Nardin branch for 9 1/2 years and with Hahn Brothers Monument Company for 1 1/2 years.

In 1975, Dean became involved with law enforcement part-time as the Town Marshal of Deer Creek for one year, then as a reserve deputy sheriff from December 1975 to December 1980. From January 1981 to January 1992, he served as Deputy Sheriff for the Grant County Sheriff's Department. From January 1994 to August 2014, he served as the Chief of Police of Wakita, Oklahoma, retiring from a career of 38 years in Law Enforcement.

In 1994-1995, Dean played a significant role in the design and creation of the Grant County Veterans Memorial located in Wakita. He was a member of the Wakita Christian Church.

Dean was preceded in death by his grandparents: Edward O. and Gladys (Patterson) Bellin and John Clarence and Lottie Marie (Terrell) Clark; step-son, Justin Burlie; and nephew, Shane Warren.

Dean will be deeply missed by his wife, Judy Bellin; sons: Ryan Bellin and Aaron Bellin; step-sons: James Burlie and Vernis Burlie; his parents, Merble and Carol Bellin; sister, Tammie Warren and husband, Kevin; brother, Lugene Bellin; grandsons: Preston, Jack and Chance Bellin and Tyler Stewart; 2 great-granddaughters: Zoe and Zella Stewart; numerous other relatives, brothers in law enforcement, and many friends.

Memorial service will be held 10:00 a.m. Friday, May 19, 2017 at the Christian Church in Wakita, Oklahoma with Pastor Jeff Enabnit officiating. Private inurnment will be held at Wakita Cemetery. Friends may register 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Tuesday thru Thursday at Prairie Rose Funeral Home in Anthony. Memorials in memory of Dean may be made to the Wakita Cemetery and may be sent in care of the funeral home.
