David C. Wohlschlegel was born October 15, 1958 in Anthony, Kansas at the Galloway Hospital.  He grew up on a farm in Crystal Springs attending school for 1 year at Crystal Springs and 3 years at Grandview before moving north of Harper.  He finished his early education at Harper School, and graduated from Chaparral High School with the Class of 1976.  He loved playing football and liked to remind his family that he was a good athlete back in the day.  He continued his love of sports by watching football all the time on tv.

In David's younger days he worked on the family farm and for local farmers, John Patterson and Kenny and Carol Bergman.  The Bergman's always treated him as family.  He saved his money to buy his first new truck, a black short-bed Ford.  He was so proud of that truck.  He later enjoyed his Harley Davidson motorcycles, going on countless trips with his biker friends.  His health forced him to give up riding, but his sisters knew he went on trips he never told them about.

David always loved his dogs, having many throughout his life, but his chihuahua, Blackie, was his companion for 17 years and they were never apart until Blackie passed last October.

David inherited the nickname "Wolf" to his friends and "Day Day" to his sisters.  The nurses teased him in the hospital because we were calling him Day Day!

On April 1, 2023, David passed away at Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice in Wichita at the age of 64.  He was preceded in death by his parents, Joyce E. (Kastens) Wohlschlegel and Douglas C. Wohlschlegel; grandparents, Joe and Lucy Wohlschlegel, and John and Eva Kastens; many aunts and uncles; and his precious fur babies.

David is survived by his sisters: Pam Harbin (Mark) and Tracy Sickels (Don); nieces and nephews: Spencer, Ali, and Kori Harbin, and Blaine and Sara Sickels.

A celebration of life will be held Monday, April 3, 2023 at The Copper Lounge in harper from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.  Please join the family and share your memories with them.

Cremation has taken place and the family will have a private inurnment at Spring Grove Cemetery, where David will be laid to rest beside his mother.

Memorials in memory of David may be made to the David Wohlschlegel Memorial Fund to assist with expenses or to Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice and can be sent in care of Prairie Rose Funeral Home, 602 E. Main St., Anthony, KS 67003.
