Obituary

David Allen Maunz was born on December 5, 1946 in Beedeville, Arkansas to Fredrick Hilliard "Fritz" Maunz and Mary Katheryn (Adams) Maunz.  He passed away at William Newton Memorial Hospital in Winfield, Kansas on July 9, 2018 at the age of 71 years, 7 months, and 4 days.

Proudly serving his country, David entered the United States Marine Corp on March 20, 1964 where he was awarded the Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, National Defense Medal, Good Conduct Medal, and Rifle Sharpshooter Badge.  He was honorably discharged from active duty as a Lance Corporal on March 20, 1967.  David then entered into the Army National Guard of Kansas and was honorably discharged on July 19, 1974.

David was united in marriage to Brenda Jo Swafford on July 13, 1971 in Wichita, Kansas.  They first lived in Wichita and were blessed with four children: Davina, David, Nicole, and Dirk.  The family moved to Harper in 1985.  David worked for several years as an Aeronautical Engineer for Boeing.

Preceding David in death are his parents, Fritz and Katheryn; son, Dirk Allen Maunz; wife, Brenda; sister, Mary Ann Welch; and brother, Joe Maunz.  He will be deeply missed by his children: Davina Cummings and husband, Chris of Winfield; David Allen Maunz II and his wife, Dez of Wichita; and Nicole Maunz and significant other, Sean Palmer of Wichita; grandchildren: Kaylee, Katelyn, Hayli Jo, Michaela, Payton, Kirstin, Matthew, Melissa, Mitchell, Joseph, Charles, and Marisella; eleven great-grandchildren; brothers: Jim Maunz and his wife, Joyce and Roger Maunz; sisters: Barbara Foster, Kay Carriker and her husband, Kenny, Robin Stone, and Kim Nisley; other relatives and friends.

Visitation will be from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

Graveside Service is 10:00 a.m. Monday, July 16, 2018 at the Harper Cemetery with Pastor Nathan Cook officiating.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Brain Aneurysm/AVM Community Together Support Associating and may be sent in care of the funeral home.
