Darrel Eugene Trantham, 77, made his journey to heaven on November 16 ^th , 2021 immediately upon returning to the family home in Attica following another recent hospitalization.  Surrounded by his loving wife of 53 years and his two daughters Amy and Andie, he was ready to go and could relax at home where he wanted to be.

Darrel was a Son, Brother, Friend, Wanna Be Cowboy, Husband, Dad, Papa, Trash Man, Attica Bulldog Fan, Bus Driver, Hunter, Dog Lover, every little kids "Candy Man" and touched so many lives in his 77 years on this earth.

The oldest of four children, Darrel was born on June 30th, 1944 on the family farm near Sharon, Kansas to Kenneth Riley Trantham and Agnes Marie (Byers) Trantham.  He was preceded in death by his parents (2002), and sister Kathy (1991).

Darrel found the love of his life, Nancy Johnson while in Junior High and they were united in marriage on a hot summer day, July 21 ^st 1968 in Sharon, KS.  To this union, 2 daughters Amy and Andie were born and 3 heavenly angels.

A graduate of Sharon High School, he served seven years in the National Guard.  Darrel attended cosmetology school, where he learned to drink coffee and smoke cigarettes, and became licensed in 1966.  He spent 20 plus years with the City of Attica as an employee before he devoted his working hours to his own businesses. Darrel touched many lives by giving kids their first job on the trash route. Trantham Trash celebrates 50 years of our business picking up in 2021 and AJAC Wash Bay has been keeping cars and trucks clean since 1987.  Darrel would talk to anyone about anything and there was no doubt his opinion on the subject.

Darrel was a founding member of the Red Rock Gun Club and the Attica Roping Club in addition to being a member of the Attica Christian Church where he served as a deacon.

He is lovingly remembered by his wife Nancy, daughter Amy (Wayde) Watkins of Maize, daughter, Andie (Jeff) Dean of Pratt. Grandchildren Kevin Watkins, Tyler, Riley and Ava Dean. As well as his brother Tom (Cecelia) Trantham of Great Bend and sister Karen Brown of Great Bend. Not to forget the large network of family, friends, and folks that he loved to spend time with visiting.

The celebration of life will be Saturday morning, November 20th, because everyone knew where Darrel would be on a Saturday morning.  Services will be held at 10:30 am at the Attica Christian Church.  There will be no graveside services or visitation, as cremation has taken place and Darrel and Nancy wish to eventually have their ashes combined.
