Daniel Francis Olivier Jr. was born June 22, 1929 in the hospital in Harper, Kansas to Daniel Sr. and Margaret Cathrine (Ioerger) Olivier.
The family lived in the Danville, Kansas area and Daniel attended the Immaculate Conception Grade School in Danville. He then attended Harper High School from 1943 to his graduation in 1947. The family moved to Harper in 1945. Daniel played football and their team won the Southern Kansas League in the seasons of 1944 and 1946 (classes of 1945 and 1947).
Daniel went on to attend St. Benedict's College in Atchison, Kansas and Rockhurst College in Kansas City, Missouri. Entering the United States Army in January of 1951, Daniel served in the German Occupation Force and was honorably discharged in January of 1953. Continuing his college education, Daniel attended Kansas State College in Manhattan, Kansas, graduating in January of 1956 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Business administration.
After working and farming for a few years, Daniel moved to Los Angeles, California where he worked until 1986. Upon retirement, he moved to Bullhead City, Arizona.
On May 15, 1974, Daniel married Patricia June Box (formerly of Clacton-on-Sea, England) in Santa Ana, California. The couple was living in Arizona when Patricia passed away on April 8, 2003. After that time, Daniel split his time between Bullhead City and Harper.
Daniel was an avid sports fan and participant; active in baseball, softball, and golf as well as football back in his school days and time in the Army.
On October 25, 2018, Daniel passed away at the age of 89 years, 4 months, and 3 days. Preceding him in death are his wife Patricia; his parents; and his brothers, James and Rodney Olivier. He is survived by several nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends.
Friends may view and register from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. on Sunday at the funeral home.
Recitation of the Rosary is 10:00 a.m. and Funeral Mass is 10:30 a.m. Monday, October 29, 2018 at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Danville, of the St. Joan of Arc Parish Community with Father Bob Pinninti officiating. Interment will follow at the Fairview Cemetery, south of Danville, and Military Honors will be provided by the United States Army Honor Guard. Family and friends will return to the church for a dinner.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Daniel's name to the American Humane Society and can be sent in care of the funeral home.
