Dallas Dean Mayfield, age 74 of Columbus, Kansas passed away on February 16, 2023 at his home.
Dallas was born on November 24, 1948 to the union of Dallas Smith Mayfield and Ethel Lucille (Koch) Mayfield. He graduated from Harper High School with the Class of 1966 and later attended Wichita State University where he received his Bachelors Degree in Accounting. He worked as an Accountant for the US Government and various companies in Seattle, Washington, Los Alamos, New Mexico, Kansas City and Joplin, Missouri, and Rockwall, Texas before retiring to Eagle Rock, Missouri in 2015.
Dallas enjoyed hunting, fishing, home improvement projects, WSU Shockers Basketball, and KC Chiefs Football. A favorite annual event was attending deer camp on opening weekend of Missouri deer season with his friends and their sons. Though the retirement plan to Eagle Rock was meant to allow for daily fishing at Table Rock Lake, Dallas instead spent most of his time designing, renovating, and building an addition to his lake home. His last project was designing and building a garage with his son.
Dallas is survived by one son, Jeffrey Mayfield (wife Casey) of Columbus; two sisters, Cheryl Luthi (late husband Mert) of Wichita, Kansas and Karen Gloodt (husband Edward) of Ardmore, Oklahoma; and nieces: Robin Luthi-Jones, Melissa Luthi-Placke, Valerie Gloodt, and Kristi Nagode.
Cremation has taken place and Dallas has been inurned next to his parents at the Harper Cemetery.
A memorial service for Dallas will be held at the Westview Lodge in Harper, Kansas at 1:00 p.m. on June 3, 2023.
