Obituary

Dale Davis, 93, of Wichita, Kansas and formerly of Harper, Kansas, passed away peacefully on December 31, 2022 in Wichita.

Dale was born on April 5, 1929 to Samuel Monroe and Nettie (Pfifer) Davis in Anthony, Kansas.  After Dale graduated from Norwich High School in 1947, he went on to serve the United States Navy, enlisting on October 4, 1948.  Dale met Lois Lorraine Parker on a blind date and they were married on November 27, 1949  in Harper.  Dale served in Hawaii, China, Japan, Formosa, and the Philippines during the Korean conflict.  He was given the Korean Service Medal with 1 bronze star, United Nations Service Medal, China Service Medal, Navy Occupation Medal, and Good Conduct Medal and was Honorably Discharged on October 3, 1952 with the rank of Electrician's Mate Second Class.  Dale and Lois went on to have two daughters, Cheryl and Sondra.

Upon returning from his service to the Navy, Dale began working at Western Light & Telephone as a lineman, where he eventually retired in 1995.  Upon his retirement, he spent his time tending to his yard and garden, following his grandchildren's sports and school activities, taking pictures, and traveling.

Dale was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Lois; brothers: Oscar, Allen, Don, and Doyl Davis; sister, Lola Catlin.  He is survived by daughters, Cheryl (Wayne) Voss of Cheney and Sondra Davis of Hesston; grandchildren, Monica (Curt) Bowmaker and Nathan (Britton) Voss; five great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; other relatives and friends

Friends may view and register from 9:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. Monday.

Funeral Service is 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, January 3, 2023 at Prairie Rose Funeral Home, Harper with Pastor Bruce Wilson officiation.  Burial follows at the Harper Cemetery with military honors by the US Navy.
