Dale Eugene Botkin, farmer and stockman of Argonia, Kansas, passed away Friday, October 14, 2016 at the age of 86.

Dale was born to Frances "Gene" and Hazel (McCully) Botkin on February 17, 1930 in Danville and moved to the farm soon thereafter. He attended Danville Elementary, graduated from Harper High School in 1948, and then went on to Kansas State University studying Agri-Business. Dale was then drafted into the U.S. Army and was stationed in England at Lakenheath Air Force Base for the duration of his service.

His life's journey included working for his father in his younger years at Botkin's John Deere Implement in Harper and the Botkin Grain Elevators in Argonia and Danville. He and his family then moved to the farm located north of Argonia in 1961. He enjoyed a lifetime of farming in the Harper, Argonia, and Norwich areas.

Dale married Margaret Helen Wohlschlegel on February 25, 1951 in the Harper United Methodist Church. They became the parents of two sons and a daughter. He was a loving husband and father who was an unwaveringly kind, giving, and good humored man. He was active in his children's lives by participating as a 4H leader. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and summer camping trips with his family and friends. He was a member of the Harper United Methodist Church and was a member of the Masonic Lodge.

Dale was preceded in death by his parents and brothers, John and Donald. He is survived by his wife and companion of 65 years, Margaret; children: David Botkin and wife Jean (Harper), Diane Botkin (Vail, Co) and Stan Botkin and wife Lori (Argonia); grandchildren: Renee, Austin, Westin, Wyatt, and Abby; sister-in-law, Kay Botkin; sister-in-law, Marilyn Krug and her husband Roger; several nieces and nephews; other relatives and many friends.

Dale was a calm and gentle man who had unconditional love in his heart for his family and friends. He will be missed by all who were touched by his kindness, wisdom, and generosity.

Friends may register from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. Sunday and 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. on Monday at Prairie Rose Funeral Home in Harper.

Funeral Service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, October 18th, 2016 at the Harper United Methodist Church with Pastor Jerred Haydock officiating. Interment will follow at the Harper Cemetery.

Memorials may be given to the Harper United Methodist Church and may be sent in care of the funeral home.
