Cynthia Ann Towne was born on December 9, 1956 in Wichita, Kansas, daughter of William Thomas and Ruth Ann (Koester) Whitehead.  One of nine children, Cindy and her family made their home in Wichita.  She attended grade school at Christ the King Catholic School before going on to Bishop Carol High School.  With her mom working outside the home, Cindy helped take care of her siblings.  She wasn't able to graduate high school, but she did receive her GED.

First being married to Mike O'Hare, after their divorce she was married to Gary Collins.  The couple were blessed with a son, Jeremy.  After a second divorce, Cindy married Darrell Towne and she gained two daughters, Stephanie and Shawna.  Soon three more boys filled the house: Jacob, John, and Jesse.  Most of the years of raising her sons, the family lived in Argonia, Kansas.  Although Cindy did work some outside of the home, her main focus was on being a homemaker and a mother.

Later in life, Cindy obtained her CNA license and was proud of that career.  She loved helping people in various roles, both in facilities as well as home health care.  She did move around some but eventually landed back in Argonia to be around her family and help with the grandkids.

Cindy was all about family.  They all held a special place in her heart, and she spent as much time with them as she could.  She loved to cook for them and take care of whatever they needed.

After a short battle with her health, Cindy passed away at her home in Argonia on February 1, 2026 at the age of 69.  She was preceded in death by her parents, William and Ruth Whitehead, and her siblings: Shirley Marck, Diana Fowler, Ron Whitehead, and Bill Whitehead.  Cindy is survived by her children: Jeremy Collins of Wichita, Jacob Towne (Sara) of Argonia, John Towne (Shannon) of Argonia, and Jesse Towne of Sapulpa, Oklahoma; step-daughters, Stephanie and Shawna Towne; grandchildren: Chloe Lane, Gracie Case, Summer Towne, Sophia Towne, Tripp Towne, Skylar Towne, Jaxson Towne, and Lexi Towne; great-granddaughter, Rosalia Case; siblings: James Whitehead (Wiletta), Mary Humble, Pamela Bromme, and Teresa Arnette; many nieces and nephews; other relatives and friends.

Viewing and Visitation is 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. and Funeral Service is 1:00 p.m., Friday, February 6, 2026 at Evidence Church in Wichita with Pastor Jason Bruns officiating.  Burial follows at the Argonia Cemetery.
