Cynthia Jan Colburn, 72, of Anthony, Kansas, passed away on March 14, 2024. A celebration of her life will take place at 1:30pm, March 29, 2024 at The Revolution Fellowship Church in Anthony, KS.  Cyndi was born on January 5, 1952, in Fort Worth, Texas to Jerry and Lorraine Smith. Throughout her childhood and teenage years Cyndi excelled in dance and competed in many competitions. She was also a loyal Camp Fire Girl and spent her summers as a camp counselor. Cyndi spent the majority of her life in Fort Worth and graduated from Arlington Heights High School in 1970. It was here that she met the love of her life Max Colburn. They were married on August 5, 1972. Cyndi furthered her education at the University of North Texas and graduated in 1977. It was during these early years of their life together that God found them and their faith began to grow. In 1980 they were blessed with the birth of their daughter Kelly and in 1982 their family was complete with the birth of their son Zak. Cyndi loved being a mother to her children and chose to work part time while they were young. She began her career in banking as a teller and would hold many other titles and positions over the years. As Kelly and Zak got older, Cyndi's passion for finance and her mind for numbers would lead her to become a Certified Financial Planner. Opportunity then presented itself for leadership and Cyndi then became a bank branch manager and vice president.

Cyndi, known for her loving and generous nature, was always the life of the party and never met a stranger. She loved meeting new people and making new friends. She and Max delighted in hosting parties and having friends over to the house was one of their favorite things to do. Cyndi enjoyed traveling and was never one to sit still for very long. Among some of her favorite trips were her numerous getaways to NYC with her daughter Kelly, her many trips to Mexico with Max, and a very special anniversary trip where they drove up the Pacific Coast Highway in California.

But perhaps her greatest adventure began when she became a Grammy. Her four grandchildren were the light and joy of her life. She lived to be present in their lives and wanted to make as many memories with them as she could. Every year Cyndi presented her own version of the Grammy Awards to her grandchildren and made sure to highlight each one's unique qualities and strengths. Her home was known as Grammyland and it was a place filled with sugar and where she never said no. Cyndi took great delight anytime the whole family could be together and over the years she planned many vacations for the group. The family took a Disney Cruise, visited a dude ranch in Colorado, a trip to the beach and most recently everyone spent New Year's together in Broken Bow, Oklahoma.

After many years of splitting their time between Texas and Kansas, in 2022 Max and Cyndi sold their home in Texas and decided to make Kansas their permanent residence. They absolutely loved the small town life and the many friends that they have made. Cyndi also greatly enjoyed participating in women's bible studies, playing canasta and bridge club.

These are only a few of the many wonderful parts to Cyndi's life. To know her was to be truly blessed. Her warm spirit and zest for life will be dearly missed everyday.

She is survived by her beloved husband of 52 years, Max Colburn, her daughter Kelly Schmidt and husband Jarrett, her son Zak Colburn and wife Heather, and her four grandchildren, Aaron, Jack, Allison, and Kate, who brought her the greatest joy in life. Cyndi is also survived by her sister Salli Cuvillier and countless friends. She was preceded in death by her father Jerry Smith, her mother Lorraine Smith, and her brother Jeff Smith.
