Susan Hornbeck Huffman, 53, of Hutchinson, passed away on July 12, 2017, at Hospice House of Hutchinson, Kansas. She was born Feb. 11, 1964, to Jimmie Dale Hornbeck and Judith Elaine (Pallister) Hornbeck. Her step-dad was Robert L. Barton.

Susie graduated from Pretty Prairie High School in 1982 and attended Wichita State University. On January 5, 1997, she married Jeffry Huffman of Hutchinson. He survives.

Susie was preceded in death by her parents and numerous relatives. She was the youngest of these siblings: Ginny Hornbeck Porter (Steve), Haven, KS, Thomas L. Hornbeck (Gayle and family), Bluff City, KS, Paul E. Hornbeck, Ft. Collins, CO, David L. Barton, Pretty Prairie, KS, Kathy L. Fowler, Clarksdale, AZ, Kristi L. Rohling, Nickerson, KS, and R. Douglas Barton, Maple Grove, MN. Susie will be dearly missed by four children: Thomas C. Hornbeck (Stacy), Jamie Lynn Harris, Amanda Leanne McConnell, Nathan Hilton McConnell (Carissa) all of Hutchinson, KS; and three beautiful grandchildren, Cooper McConnell, 8, Jameson Ginn, 5, Journey McConnell, 11 months.

Susie had an optimistic spirit, a terrific sense of humor, and was dedicated to her family and to the Kansas City Chiefs. Along with many relatives and many pets, 'Susie Smiles' will also be missed by her wonderfully supportive family at Lowen Corporation of Hutchinson.

Cremation has taken place. A Celebration of Susie's life will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, August 12, 2017 at the Atrium's Endeavor 3 Suite, 1400 N. Lorraine, Hutchinson, KS.
